Project Summary
This client offers hands-on training for corporate recruiters and HR executives to improve diversity in their organizations. A significant part of this is recruiting diverse talent. These training courses were conducted done in-person and virtually. The client wanted to create an E-learning course that could be implemented in a SCORM-compatible LMS for licensing to third-party corporate clients.
Instructional Design Approach
I used the ADDIE instructional design model for this project. The Analyze phase started with SME interviews and a deep dive into the existing presentation materials. The goal was to use sound instructional design and adult learning theory to structure the training into a useful and robust training experience. The existing content was large and time consuming. Complex ideas and methods needed to be simplified and delivered in a format that was easy to understand and remember. Learning objectives were identified to facilitate learners remembering, understanding, and applying the techniques presented. This process also identified adjacent wraparound materials that would need to be included in the scope of the project.
The Design phase resulted in a framework consisting of three modules. This allowed the modules to be shorter, which is more consistent with a good learning experience. Within those modules, topics were organized into bite-sized sections in storyboards. Special care was given to preserve the tone and human voice in the writing style. The Diverse Sourcing Foundations course is the first of the three course modules in the curriculum.
The Develop phase included the course build in Articulate Storyline 360. The course relies heavily on stock photography and click-to-reveal interactions. The course topics were anchored by a central landing page with clickable topics, enabling users to choose which branch of the course to explore first. The module concluded with a ten question quiz.
